Questions
Can I Buy Edibles Off Amazon? Yes, Here's How
No, you cannot buy THC or genuine CBD edibles on Amazon. Amazon prohibits the sale of cannabis and hemp-derived products. To buy real edibles, you need a licensed dispensary like Garden of Eden or a federally legal hemp retailer.
Can You Buy Edibles on Amazon? Here's the Straight Answer
If you've searched for edibles on Amazon, you've probably noticed a confusing mix of products. The direct answer is: Amazon does not allow the sale of THC edibles or genuine CBD edibles. Their policy prohibits listings for cannabis or hemp-derived products intended for human consumption. Any "CBD gummies" you see on Amazon are usually made from hemp seed oil, which contains no CBD or THC — they're essentially expensive candy.
To buy real THC or CBD edibles, you must turn to other sources. For marijuana edibles (with Delta-9 THC), you need a state-licensed dispensary like ours at Garden of Eden in Hayward. For hemp-derived edibles (Delta-8 or low-THC), federally legal retailers can ship to most states. But Amazon is not an option for anything that actually works.
If you're in the East Bay, we offer same-day delivery of lab-tested edibles — just order by 7pm. Visit our dispensary near me hayward page to get started.
Hemp vs. Marijuana Edibles: What the Law Says About Buying Online
The key difference is the source plant and THC content. Hemp-derived edibles (containing less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight) are federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. Marijuana-derived edibles (higher THC) are illegal federally but legal in states with adult-use laws. Here's how they compare:
| Factor | Hemp Edibles (Delta-8, CBD) | Marijuana Edibles (Delta-9 THC) |
|---|---|---|
| Legal to ship | Yes, if under 0.3% Delta-9 THC (federally legal) | No, only legal within state boundaries |
| Can buy on Amazon? | No — Amazon bans all ingestible hemp products | No |
| Where to buy online | Hemp retailers, specialty websites | State-licensed dispensaries (in-person or delivery) |
| Psychoactive effect | Delta-8: mild high; CBD: non-intoxicating | Strong high (varies by dose) |
| Lab testing required | Yes, but enforcement varies | Yes, strict state requirements |
| Typical price range | Varies widely; ask for a quote | Varies by potency and brand; check our menu |

Where to Buy Edibles Online: Licensed Dispensaries and Hemp Retailers
Since Amazon won't work, here's how to buy real edibles online legally and safely.
- Determine your local laws. If you're in a state with adult-use cannabis (like California), you can buy from a licensed dispensary. For hemp-derived edibles, check if your state allows Delta-8 or CBD shipments.
- Choose a licensed source. For marijuana edibles, use a state-licensed dispensary like Garden of Eden. For hemp edibles, pick a retailer that provides third-party lab results.
- Browse and order online. Most dispensaries, including ours, offer online ordering with pickup or delivery. We deliver same-day to Hayward, San Lorenzo, Union City, Castro Valley, Fremont, Newark, San Leandro, Oakland, and Tracy.
- Provide ID for age verification. You must be 21+ (or 18+ with a medical card in some states). We verify age upon delivery or pickup.
- Pay and receive your order. We accept cash and debit cards. Delivery has a flat $5 fee; orders by 7pm go out same day.

| Transparent pricing | Clear prices, no hidden fees | Vague pricing or upsells |

Edible Dosage Guide: How Much THC Should You Take?
Dosage is key to a good experience. Start low and go slow. Here's a general guide (always check the product label):
| Experience Level | Recommended Dose (THC) | Effects |
|---|---|---|
| First-time user | 2.5–5 mg | Mild relaxation, slight euphoria |
| Occasional user | 5–10 mg | Noticeable high, giggles, time distortion |
| Regular user | 10–20 mg | Strong high, couch-lock possible |
| Experienced user | 20–50 mg | Intense high, may cause anxiety if too much |
| High tolerance | 50–100 mg | Very strong; only for those with high tolerance |
How strong is a 10 mg edible compared to a joint? A 10 mg edible is roughly equivalent to a joint with 0.5–1 gram of 10-15% THC flower, but the high lasts longer (4–6 hours vs. 1–2 hours). Will 10mg get me high? For most occasional users, yes. Is a 100 mg edible too strong? For anyone without a very high tolerance, yes — it can lead to discomfort. Always start low.

Are CBD Gummies on Amazon Legit? What to Check Before You Buy
Most "CBD gummies" on Amazon are not real CBD. They're often hemp seed oil gummies with no active cannabinoids. Here's what to check before buying:
- Check the ingredients list. Real CBD gummies should list "cannabidiol" or "full-spectrum hemp extract" — not just "hemp seed oil."
- Look for a Certificate of Analysis (COA). A legitimate seller provides a lab report showing CBD content and absence of heavy metals or pesticides.
- Verify the seller's reputation. Search for reviews outside of Amazon. If the brand has no website or contact info, it's likely a scam.
- Understand Amazon's policy. Amazon prohibits the sale of ingestible CBD products. Any listing that claims to be CBD is either lying or mislabeled.
If you want guaranteed quality, buy from a licensed dispensary like Garden of Eden. We carry lab-tested CBD and THC edibles you can trust.
How Edibles Are Shipped: Discreet Packaging and Delivery Rules
Whether you order from a dispensary or a hemp retailer, here's what to expect for shipping and delivery:
- Discreet packaging. Most reputable sellers ship in plain boxes with no cannabis branding. Our delivery bags are opaque and unmarked.
- Age verification at delivery. For marijuana edibles, the driver will check your ID. For hemp edibles, you may need to upload ID at checkout.
- Delivery area restrictions. Marijuana edibles can only be delivered within the state. Hemp edibles can ship to most states, but check local laws.
- Shipping speed. Dispensary delivery is often same-day (like our $5 flat fee delivery). Hemp retailers may take 3–7 business days.

Do You Need an ID to Buy Edibles Online? Age Verification Explained
Yes, you need a valid ID to buy edibles online — whether from a dispensary or a hemp retailer. For marijuana edibles, you must be 21+ (or 18+ with a medical card in some states). We verify age at delivery or pickup. For hemp-derived edibles, many retailers require ID verification during checkout. Never buy from a site that doesn't ask for age verification — it's likely illegal or a scam. If you're visiting us in Hayward, bring your ID and check our [[what-to-bring-to-dispensary-hayward|what to bring to a dispensary]] page.

Is it safe to buy edibles online?
It can be safe if you buy from a licensed source. For marijuana edibles, only use state-licensed dispensaries (like Garden of Eden). For hemp edibles, choose retailers that provide lab results and have clear age verification. Avoid any site that doesn't ask for ID or lacks contact information.
Is CBD on Amazon legit?
No, CBD products on Amazon are not legitimate. They are typically hemp seed oil supplements that contain no CBD. The FDA has issued warning letters to companies making false claims. Always buy CBD from a source that provides a Certificate of Analysis.
Can I legally buy edibles online?
It depends on the type. Hemp-derived edibles (under 0.3% Delta-9 THC) are federally legal and can be shipped to most states. Marijuana edibles are only legal within states that have adult-use or medical programs, and must be purchased from a licensed dispensary. Always check your local laws.
How strong is a 10 mg edible compared to a joint?
A 10 mg edible is roughly equivalent to smoking a joint with 0.5–1 gram of 10-15% THC flower. However, edibles produce a longer-lasting and often more intense body high because THC is processed by the liver into 11-hydroxy-THC. Start with 5 mg if you're new.
